Soccer

Soccer, known as football in most countries outside North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net using any part of the body except the hands and arms; only goalkeepers are allowed to handle the ball within their penalty area. The game is played on a rectangular field, known as a pitch, with a goal at each end. Matches are typically divided into two halves, each lasting 45 minutes, with a short halftime interval. Soccer is governed internationally by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), which organizes major tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup. The sport is characterized by its emphasis on foot skills, teamwork, and strategy, making it one of the most popular and widely followed sports in the world.
