Baseball

Baseball is a bat-and-ball sport played between two teams, typically consisting of nine players each. The game is played on a field with a diamond-shaped layout, which includes four bases (first base, second base, third base, and home plate) arranged in a square. The objective of the game is for one team (the batting team) to score runs by hitting a ball thrown by the opposing team’s pitcher and then running around the bases to reach home plate. The other team (the fielding team) aims to prevent runs from being scored by getting batters out through various means, such as catching fly balls, throwing to bases, or striking out batters.

Baseball has nine innings, with each team having a turn to bat and a turn to field in each inning. The team with the most runs at the end of the game wins. The sport is known for its rich history and tradition, particularly in the United States, where it is often referred to as “America’s pastime.” Various professional leagues and tournaments exist, the most notable being Major League Baseball (MLB) in the U.S. and various international competitions. Baseball emphasizes strategy, skill, teamwork, and individual talent.
