Football

Football is a team sport in which two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, compete to score goals by propelling a spherical ball into the opposing team’s goal using primarily their feet. The game is played on a rectangular field known as a pitch, with goals at each end. The rules of football, governed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) at the international level, stipulate how the game should be played, including aspects such as fouls, offsides, and the duration of the match.

Football is known for its global popularity and is considered the world’s most widely followed sport. Different variations of the game exist, including association football (often just called “football” in most countries, known as “soccer” in the United States) and American football. Overall, the term “football” primarily refers to association football, characterized by its emphasis on skillful ball control, teamwork, and strategy.
